👍 A dark dawn,
Here is an accessible, story-form recap of the past day. It may include gossip and some speculation from a conspiratorial perspective.
1️⃣ When the quiet broke
Bitcoin and altcoins had both been quiet. But the order books were beginning to thin, and liquidity was leaving.
💬 “Doesn’t something feel off today?”
That feeling turned out to be right.
2️⃣ Those who knew and those who didn’t
Thirty minutes before the crash began, one account opened a $1.1 billion short. Days earlier, the same account had bet on Polymarket that “Trump would pardon CZ.” Politics, capital and the direction of the market seemed to be tilting in the same direction.
3️⃣ The collapse came in an instant
Bitcoin faltered, and Ethereum followed it down. Altcoins fell one after another, with some dropping 80% to 90%. Order books emptied, and both buy and sell orders struggled to fill.
In just one hour, 30% of the market’s total open interest disappeared. More frightening than the money lost was the collapse of confidence.
4️⃣ Someone profited from the fear
As everyone else froze in the early hours, only one chart was green. The whale made $200 million in a day and closed the position at the bottom.
💬 Position closed — +$200,000,000
It was a night when one person’s loss became another’s gain.
5️⃣ The night names disappeared
On Hyperliquid, more than 10 accounts worth over $10 million were liquidated. White Whale disappeared after reaching +$97 million, while machibigbrother’s account closed at a $10 million loss, down from +$44 million as of 9/19. The market was unforgiving, and even legends were no exception.
6️⃣ Those who remained
Some added collateral and held on; others simply left. Some closed their shorts and changed direction; others turned off their screens. For one person, the right choice; for another, a final mistake.
In the end, one thing mattered: survival.
7️⃣ Morning
The sell-off stopped and charts partially rebounded, but the mood remained heavy.
💬 “Are you okay?”
Those were the hardest words to say that day.
I opened the window and let in the cold air and the smell of coffee. Even so, I thought, perhaps we can start again.
Closing thoughts
This market is always unforgiving. Yesterday’s hero disappears into today’s numbers, and today’s loser finds tomorrow’s opportunity. Still, we remain, to get back up and hold on to hope.
Close the charts today and take a breath. Perhaps what you lost in the market was not money, but your composure for a while.
💬 Today, a round of applause for you, the survivor.
